"Talk about Science!": The Slam

Wednesday, 12.06.2024, 18:30-21:00
(at least 6 active contributions required!)

"Talk about science!" - actually a matter of course, right?

But why always so serious? Why so modest? Do you read brains, make the mute talk, turn slackers into Nobel Prize winners or can you explain how, and why people really tick as they do? Or at least something similar?
Do you think your research topic rocks and want even the most critical minds in the HF to finally understand why?

Then show us all and take part in the HF Science Slam!

To inspire your audience, (almost) anything is allowed:

Show pictures, play videos or music, bring your tools or turn us into guinea pigs - surprise us, but above all: talk like you've grown a beak so that we never forget what you do in your research again!

The only rules:

No longer than 10 minutes!
Talk about your own research!
Make it entertaining!

The probably most demanding audience in the world is hand-picked and will evaluate all presentations mercilessly; the three best will be determined by the length of the applause and will receive a small prize afterwards.

If you fancy some really nasty stage fright beforehand and a dip in the applause afterwards, then we would be delighted to receive your applications for your own slam!

A 75-inch screen and a laptop are available for presentations of all kinds - if you need anything else, please let us know and we will try to organize what you need in good time.

If you see yourself more in the hand-picked, discerning audience and are prepared to confuse the speakers with shouts of enthusiasm, deafening applause or other expressions of approval or to spur them on to top performance, we are of course also looking forward to seeing you: As the number of places is limited, we would also ask you to register briefly via Graduate School-HF[at]uni-kioeln.de.

We look forward to a great evening with you!
