BarCamp - Do-it-yourself conference

PhD students and postdocs at HF
Wednesday, 12.06.2024, 09:00-11:35

At the HF, there are many topics that doctoral students and postdocs deal with in their everyday academic life, but which are often only briefly addressed at the proverbial coffee machine in their own work area.

With a BarCamp ("unconference"), we would like to give you the opportunity to devote a little more time to such topics and to network beyond your immediate circle of colleagues.

You can exchange knowledge, develop ideas, network with each other or develop impulses for joint projects.

Scientific topics can be discussed as well as topics from your other work context.

The process:

1. collection of topics:
At the BarCamp there is no predefined program with speakers and listeners.

Instead, the program comes directly from the participants and is put together according to everyone's interests and on an equal footing. Everyone is a participant and all participants help shape the BarCamp.

As many participants as possible are therefore invited to present one or more topics that they would like to work on and to find out whether others are interested in them.

2. parallel sessions:
If there is interest in a topic, a 45-minute session will be organized, which will be moderated and led by the proposer.

Depending on the level of interest, three parallel sessions are possible in different rooms; if more than three topics come together, up to three further parallel sessions will follow after a short break.

Anyone who wants to drop out during a session can switch to another session that interests them more.

There should be one person to take minutes for each session; the minutes should be made available to all participants afterwards.

3. feedback:
An open feedback round concludes the event.
